First Birthday Party Theme
We usually just use "one" as the theme for a first birthday party.
Party Plans
We usually do their first birthday party up big, even though it's more about us than the baby. We have our family and friends over as well as anyone who was at the birth, like our doulas and midwives. We'll do something to keep younger kids entertained, like a bouncer if it's in the summer. We do some snack foods like veggies, chips and dip, but the cakes are the main attractions. We do a big cake and then have a smaller, individual cake for the birthday girl. She gets to sit in a diaper and birthday hat on a plastic table cloth and we all gather round and sing Happy Birthday. We take photos as she digs into the cake.
Lessons Learned
· I really enjoy doing it this way and we feel like we've perfected the first birthday for our family.
